Early Writing: Building Strong Foundations for the GLD (Half-day training)

This half-day training supports practitioners to understand how early writing develops from birth and how secure physical, sensory and emotional foundations underpin children’s ability to meet the Writing Early Learning Goal (GLD). Aligned with Best Start in Life principles, the session focuses on developmentally appropriate practice, highlighting the role of gross motor development, fine motor control, and sensory experiences in early mark-making and writing. Practitioners will explore how to create inclusive, playful environments that support all children to develop the skills, confidence and readiness needed for later writing success.
