Pen Green and Kingswood Early Years Provision

Pen Green’s early years provision offers education and care for children from 9 months to 3 years of age.  At Pen Green we have two early years spaces known as the Nest and the Couthie.

We are open from 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, 48 weeks of the year.

We also offer an early years provision at Kingswood Children’s Centre for children who are eligible for 2 year funding.  The Kingswood Community Nursery is open Monday to Friday during term time only and offers morning sessions from 9am to 12 noon and afternoon sessions from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.

Our three early years (0-3) spaces all offer a safe and comfortable environment for babies, toddlers and children to play, learn and interact with staff and other children.  Families using our early years provision will receive home visits, observations and assessments and where needed, family support.

What Makes Our Early Years Spaces Special?

Family Workers

Every child in the setting has a special person called a Family Worker. Family Workers are your child’s advocate at Pen Green. They ensure that each child’s emotional and developmental needs are consistently being met. They keep celebratory records of children’s achievements, as well as monitoring their progress against the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

Home Visiting

Parents are their children’s first educators, so we work in partnership with families to build on their detailed knowledge of their child’s interests. This helps us to extend children’s learning and play, giving them a rich, bespoke learning experience. Home visiting is one of the ways we build strong links with every family. This helps us to better understand and support each unique child.

Qualified and Reflective Staff

Our staff are highly qualified practitioners which we believe enhances the learning environment for children. All family workers have a minimum Level 3 qualification, we also have staff with Foundation Degrees, BAs and Masters Degrees in Early Years. We offer all staff continuous professional development opportunities through our on-site Research, Development and Training Base and through external training.  This is an opportunity to continually develop practice and reflect on effective ways of working with young children and their families.

Truly Outstanding Provision

We offer children and families a unique early years experience. We have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted in every inspection. Children attending our provision benefit from a thoughtfully designed environment carefully planned to meet the needs of young children as well as having access to a range of exciting and challenging environments such as the Discovery Area, The Beach, Soft Play Room, The Snoezelen (sensory room),Water Room and Forest School.
