Understanding Schemas and Emotion in Early Childhood’ presents the 6 year groundbreaking PhD study of a small number of children, following a ‘hunch’ that schemas sometimes reflect emotions metaphorically. The whole journey undertaken by families, nursery staff and the researcher (me) is described. I also reflect on my own experiences following the death of my sister, who was aged 17, and my family’s move to Corby when I was 8.
