We’re excited to bring together childminders through our Speech, Language and SEND Support Network, led by Karen Royle, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist.

This informal online network runs alongside our funded 1:1 speech and language consultations and is designed specifically to support childminders in developing confidence in children’s speech, language and communication, including inclusive approaches to supporting children with SEND.

What to expect

✨ Insightful discussion and expert guidance from Karen Royle, who has over 25 years’ experience supporting children, families and early years settings

✨ Opportunities to connect with other childminders and share experiences, challenges and approaches

✨ Practical, evidence-informed strategies to support speech, language and communication through everyday routines, play and interactions in home-based settings

✨ A focus on recognising, understanding and responding to children’s emerging needs within inclusive practice

Why this network matters

Speech, language and communication needs are a key area of SEND and play an important role in children’s wellbeing, relationships and learning. Childminders are uniquely placed to support communication development through close relationships and everyday experiences. This network provides a reflective and supportive space to strengthen understanding, confidence and inclusive practice.

Who should attend

Childminders and assistants supporting babies and young children, including children with SEND.
