Painting

We were able to make the most of the beautiful, sunny weather and plan a painting activity outside in the garden. The painting activity was planned for children who have been interested in envelopment and we have observed them in nursery painting their arms and hands, and exploring muddy puddles. So today I set out trays of paint and sheets of paper and invited children to take off their shoes and socks. Before long children were enjoying the sensory feel of the paint, exploring the squidgy feel and texture of the paint between their toes and fingers. As Dolcie and Florence stood in the paint trays they experienced the slippery surface and engaged their core muscles to stay upright. Some children took up the opportunity to paint their arms and legs. As Carter painted himself he said ‘l love painting!’. Children were deeply involved and demonstrated high levels of well being, having the best fun!
