Training : A Celebratory Approach to Working with Children with SEND
A programme to support childminders with early identification, support and assessment of SEND. This training has been developed to support childminders to offer additional or differentiated support in a celebratory way to those children with a neuro-diverse pattern of development, an undiagnosed or diagnosed special educational need, to enable them to reach their full potential. Children must not be defined by their needs, we need to be courageous and aspirational for all children, igniting curiosity and encouraging them to be all that they can be.
Explicit messages in the training are;
- settings can design their own curriculum, the framework does not prescribe a particular teaching approach
- the importance of early language and communication
- practitioners spend less time undertaking paperwork and more time working directly with children.
Training delivered online over 2 sessions;
Monday 13th January 6:30-8pm
Monday 20th January 6:30-8pm
This training is offered through the East Midlands Early Years Stronger Practice Hub and is free to attend for childminders in Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Rutland.
