Pen Green Research, Training and Development Base
Free to attend
We are delighted to welcome Pen Green alumni back for a special event featuring former postgraduate student and leading early years consultant Dr Stella Louis.
Following the success of our previous alumni gathering with Dr Julian Grenier (EEF), this event offers an opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and engage in timely conversation about the importance of anti-discriminatory, meaningfully diverse and inclusive early years practice, particularly within today’s challenging sociopolitical climate.
About Dr Stella Louis
Stella completed her MA in Early Childhood Education with Care at Pen Green in 2002. Since then, she has become an award-winning trainer, author, and respected early years consultant. She currently leads a team of Froebelian travelling tutors and has recently published the pamphlet Observing Young Children, which can be accessed here:

In 2024, Stella co-authored the influential book Let’s Talk About Race in the Early Years with her daughter, Hannah Betteridge. At this event, she will share her professional journey since her time at Pen Green, and explore the important — and sometimes uncomfortable — steps practitioners can take toward embedding anti-racist practice in early years settings.
