What is it like to study with us? Student feedback

Trust in the process!

At first the process seemed like a million miles away from the programme I was used to when I completed my foundation degree, we were being told we would be studying in a way that suited us at a pace that we were comfortable with. I asked myself “how are we going to cram everything we need to know to pass a degree into 2 weeks and 2 days?” Well let me tell you we did, although the days go quickly and so much information is given to you to absorb it is indeed done at a comfortable pace and adapted to suit every person in the room.

The study blocks are a great experience in themselves. You learn so much from not just the teachers (who by the way have a brain boggling knowledge base of theory and practice) but everyone else in the room.  You also surprise yourself with how much you can offer to the discussion, that’s something the Pen Green way is amazing at, making you realise just how much you actually do know! Then there’s the food…

Tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits, sweets, cupcakes, and that’s just before and after lunch.

Tutorials are really helpful and thought provoking, rather than the answer being given to you, you are prompted to think for yourself and work your way through assignments. Assignments are spread out well through the just under a year of study in manageable chunks, you do the study week, then you have plenty of time to complete the assignment. The dissertation is spread out over the whole process, and is broken down into sections so that you can start writing it after you’ve submitted the assignment and still have plenty of time until the next study block. 8,000 words can be daunting, but when you’re writing about whatever your passionate about, it’s so easy.

I loved my time studying with Pen Green, so much so when I came to apply for my teacher training there was no where else I would be willing to train with.
