Izzy and the water
Izzy it was lovely to be with you in the garden this morning, it was chilly but this didn’t stop you. Although you enjoy being at the water tray indoors, I know the garden is special to you and is a place you feel comfortable and content. After all ‘the best classroom and the richest cupboard are roofed only by the sky.’
As I sat alongside you perched on a crate I could tell you were feeling at ease in your play. Exploring the diverse nature of water you poured between containers, filtered it through tunnels and tubes, focusing on the outlets of the pipes. You tested limits, filling containers til the water was teetering on the fill line. A mathematician and scientist at work, hypothesising capacity, volume, speed and size.
Not only was it wonderful to see you testing skills in this area I observed your high levels of involvement which consequentially had a considerable impact on your wellbeing. Izzy you were quite literally our very own ‘fish in water.’ I observed your relaxed composure and intent focus, I even noticed at times your tongue poking out!
