During the study block, you will develop a theoretical framework for work with parents and families, examining the key role that parents can play in their children’s development and learning; deconstructing the concept of ‘partnership’ with parents and engaging with diversity and difference.

This module will enable you to identify and critically evaluate a range of methodologies for working closely with parents to support their confidence and self-esteem and will support a strengths based approach, honouring families’ capacities and values. This module also tackles the complexity of effectively meeting the shared, sometimes conflicting and diverse needs of families. The module will draw on a range of teaching and learning methods, including occasional lectures and seminars, individual and small group work, videos, case study and practical workshops.

This module will support you to examine and critically analyse historical, theoretical and social policy frameworks and current research evidence to inform and extend partnership working with families and children.

You will be offered tutorial support while you work on the assignment.

This module is assessed through Coursework.

The expectation is that students attend all scheduled learning and teaching sessions.

If there are exceptional circumstances which result in a student being unable to fulfil this, the student should discuss these with the Course Lead.

Programme/module requirements, including those attendance, must be met and students are responsible for making good work missed through absence.
