Supervision Sessions for Leaders and Managers

Dedicated space to reflect, think and strengthen practice

Working in early years is relational, complex and often demanding. Having protected time to reflect on your work, think through challenges and consider different perspectives can be an important part of supporting both practitioner wellbeing and high-quality practice.

Through the Pen Green Early Years Stronger Practice Hub, early years practitioners, childminders and leaders across our Hub area can access fully funded supervision sessions.

These confidential, reflective sessions provide dedicated time away from the day-to-day pressures of practice to explore an issue, experience or challenge with an experienced early years professional.

What could I bring to a supervision session?

There does not need to be a particular problem or concern. You might use the space to explore:

  • a situation involving a child or family that you are finding challenging
  • relationships or dynamics within your team
  • the emotional impact of your work
  • a leadership or management challenge
  • uncertainty around a decision or approach
  • your own responses to situations within practice
  • patterns or issues that keep arising
  • a period of change or increased pressure
  • an aspect of your professional role that you would simply value time to think about.

What happens during a session?

Reflective supervision is not about someone giving you all the answers. It provides a safe, supportive space to slow down, think, reflect and make sense of your experiences.

Your supervisor will listen, ask questions and help you explore different perspectives, enabling you to identify your own thinking, strengths and possible ways forward.

The focus will be shaped by what you bring to the session and what feels most useful to you.

Who can access the sessions?

Supervision sessions are fully funded for early years practitioners, leaders and childminders working within the Pen Green Early Years Stronger Practice Hub area: North Northamptonshire, West Northamptonshire, Rutland, Milton Keynes and North Buckinghamshire.

Whether you already receive supervision within your setting or have never experienced reflective supervision before, you are welcome to access the offer.
