Participants will develop an understanding of the positive impact of the involvement of parents in their children’s education which has long been shown to have a positive impact on overall outcomes.  They will also gain a greater understanding of the impact of SEND on a family to enhance the experiences in education for all parties.

Time will be spent looking at working with families, how to share progress and ensure involvement in education. Further time will be spent thinking about the processes of grief that many parents go through and methods of support available.

The SEND reforms place a great emphasis on catering to each child’s individual needs, ensuring that their voice is present throughout decisions and that their parents are involved in all aspects of their education.

“So much more confident in my abilities and knowledge.  The course has given me the foundation to build upon with practical solutions in the nursery”

“I have gained a further understanding into how I meet the needs of children with SEN.  I have become more reflective and proactive, working with children and families and evaluating practice with my team”

This is a one day course.

The Understanding Special Educational Needs and Disability courses can be attended in a series of three courses or individually.
